My name is Duncan McIntyre, but you’ll hear me called ‘Mac’ around the lake. Based in the Bay Area and Lake Almanor, CA I have always loved to fish, and fish Lake Almanor in particular. I’ve held careers as a teacher, football coach, wood worker and a plumber all with the dream of retiring one day to focus solely on my passion for fishing this lake. I’ve been fortunate enough to have realized that dream and have been living it since 2008 and am excited to have you join me on a trip soon! I’ve taken hundreds of people fishing on Lake Almanor over the last decade and love sharing my 30+ years of experience fishing here. If you have any questions about taking a trip with me feel free to keep scrolling, but I am ALWAYS happy to answer any questions you have if you would ever like to reach out directly.

Though Lassen once again sleeps, the region remains as one of our youngest active volcanoes. Today, Lassen Peak, its extensive adjacent collection of geothermal features, its volcanic moonscape surrounded by lush coniferous forests and countless, glistening high country lakes, have found protection within the parameters of Lassen Volcanic National Park. The message of this park is clear- our planet is alive; its surface may be quiet, but it's profound energy bubbles within. Lassen's numerous fumaroles and mud pots offer convincing evidence of this geothermal presence.

Since becoming a professional southern Oregon fishing guide, I have conquered steelhead fishing on the Rogue River. Although the Rogue River does not have as big of return numbers as the Umpqua fisheries there is still plenty of Rogue River fishing to be had. An average day fishing the Rogue River will bring 3-4 steelhead to the boat, all of good size. I enjoy fishing for steelhead on the Rogue River not only because it has taught me so much in the past but because the low return numbers make southern Oregon fishing guides work that much harder to catch steelhead on the Rogue River.

Steelhead fishing on Oregon's coastal Sixes river is one of the best fishing adventure's you can find. Fishing for steelhead on the Sixes is very productive and since you are so close to the ocean these fish put up a very good fight. The steelhead caught off of the Oregon coast are super fresh sometimes still having that sea lice on their bodies. Sea lice?! It's okay, that is good and means they probably hit fresh water within the last 48 hours.
