My name is Duncan McIntyre, but you’ll hear me called ‘Mac’ around the lake. Based in the Bay Area and Lake Almanor, CA I have always loved to fish, and fish Lake Almanor in particular. I’ve held careers as a teacher, football coach, wood worker and a plumber all with the dream of retiring one day to focus solely on my passion for fishing this lake. I’ve been fortunate enough to have realized that dream and have been living it since 2008 and am excited to have you join me on a trip soon! I’ve taken hundreds of people fishing on Lake Almanor over the last decade and love sharing my 30+ years of experience fishing here. There are two options available to meet your backcountry expectations: a full day of skiing or riding outside the Bear Valley Ski Resort, or a half-day guided tour (3-4 runs) in the Sidecountry or "Village side" of the resort. Backcountry skiing or riding in Bear Valley offers a unique and beautiful backdrop for your adventures. Fall Chinook Salmon fishing is much like the Spring salmon fishing on the Rogue River. The only difference being the quality of fish and more native salmon numbers. During the fall months, Salmon have been in the fresh water for a longer period of time. This means that the grade of meat is not as high as the spring Chinook salmon but, the fight is just as hard as those sought after "springers". Fishing for Fall Salmon on the Rogue River is a great time and more successful for most other Southern Oregon fishing guides. Our guide service looks forward to both seasons since we have had the opportunity to better understand the King Salmon in our local Rogue River than most others.
