Description Emerald Lake Intensity: Moderate Mileage: 3.2 miles round trip Starting elevation: 9,475 ft. Elevation gain: ~700 ft. Trail Time: 3.5 - 4 hours Highlights: 4 sub-alpine lakes, iconic mountain views, pristine wilderness, wildlife Description: Rocky Mountain National Park is absolutely stunning in the winter. Everything looks different in different seasons and Emerald Lake is a must-see in winter conditions. This tour is perfect if you’re moderately fit, but not used to the high elevation. After we leave the trailhead we'll pass by 3 other sub-alpine lakes on the way to Emerald. These include Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, and Dream Lake each of which provide their own unique charm and views. The trail leads us through a forest of pristine pine and aspen with stunning views of Long's Peak (14,256 ft) and the rugged wilderness of Rocky Mountain National Park. This is a popular trail, so you ask why you need a guide? Hiking in the snow in the mountains is completely different than hiking in summer conditions. Many people never make it to Bear Lake (250 ft from the parking lot) because they weren't prepared for the snow and ice. Femme Trek will provide micro spikes and trekking poles and show you how to use the gear so that your winter experience is unforgettable. After booking, you'll receive an email with details like meeting place and time, and tips on how to prepare and what to bring.

Thank you for taking an interest in wildlife tours with Chadd’s Walking With Wildlife, the premier wildlife tour company for Rocky Mountain National Park! Chadd’s Walking With Wildlife tours focus on the wildlife. We offer full day and half day tours that start and end in Estes Park. With one of the most knowledgeable guides and naturalists in the U.S., this wildlife tour is like no other in the Rocky Mountain region. It offers more than just wildlife education. We will also discuss geology, climatology, and botany, as well as the history of the area. We will make plenty of stops to photograph wildlife and the beautiful scenic views throughout the tour. No two tours will be the same as there is so much that this park has to offer. During the summer tours, we will spend the morning hours exploring Trail Ridge Road while making our way to the historic town of Grand Lake. We will stop in Grand Lake for you to grab lunch and a walk around town for 1-2 hours, depending on the group's interest. We will spend the afternoon and early evening making our way back over Trail Ridge Road to Estes Park. During the winter tours, Trail Ridge Road is closed due to snow. We will be exploring the Moraine Park area, Fall River Road, and South Navy Hill Road areas. We do our best to cater to our clients. Feel free to let us know how we can make your tour truly memorable. From all of us here at Chadd’s Walking With Wildlife... we truly hope to see you in the park!
