About us: Aggipah River Trips is a local, family-operated whitewater rafting guide service. We’ve been in business since 1977. We outfit multi-day whitewater trips on all three wilderness sections of the Salmon River. We provide trips only on the Salmon River-yet by offering trips on various sections of the Salmon and different times of the year, we have a variety of trips available. We think it is better to stay on one river, and know it best, than to spread out over a number of rivers in different areas. We feel it is important that the outfitter is on the river throughout the season leading trips, rather than being home in the office. River trips are pretty special to us, too.

Salmon River Adventures... At Yellow Jacket River Guides, we want your trip to be about more than just world class rapids and gourmet meals: a river journey is a rare opportunity to truly slow down, unwind, and enjoy the kind of genuine fun and engagement that comes with feeling relaxed, comfortable, and connected with the people around you. Floating through a river canyon isn't just watching beautiful scenery pass by, it's about exploring and becoming part of the landscape, seeing history through the eyes of those who came before, and beginning to think of the Salmon River as another home away from home. We can't tell you exactly what you'll enjoy most or bring away with you from your trip: each one is as unique as the families and friends we share it with. Every trip is a great mix of folks, starting with our amazing crew of guides who bring their knowledge, kindness, incredible whitewater skills, willingness to teach (and learn!), sense of adventure, and readiness to join you in some world class fun. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, professional, inclusive, fun, and meaningful vacation that you'll remember for a lifetime.

Our home is on the Salmon River in Riggins. It is Idaho's whitewater mecca and deep canyon gateway to adventure filled getaways. Since 1981 we have been offering daily summer whitewater trips, spring salmon and steelhead fishing, and fall steelhead and chukar hunts. Multi-day adventures are also offered and our five and six day trips are our favorites. More time in nature, the better. It normally takes people about three days just to decompress, relax, and then get acclimated to the river routine. So, all amount of time beyond that magical number of three is magnified exponentially in terms of how much more pleasure is surprisingly gained.

The Wild and Scenic California Salmon River, although still somewhat unknown even in its home state of California, is one of the most incredible class V whitewater rafting trips in the country. This is one of the most loved spring trips, and, for many of us, the "Cal Salmon" is our favorite class V river in the U.S. It combines beautiful, lush coastal scenery, an intimate, marble-smooth, granite inner gorge, a seemingly endless number of waterfalls cascading in from above, emerald-green waters, a very comfortable pop-up base camp with hot showers and a wood-fired sauna (think 'glamping' or luxury camping), and unequaled class IV-V pool-drop whitewater. This is truly a world-class, high-adventure whitewater run. Our trip combines the Salmon with the Class V Scott River and/or the spectacularly beautiful Clear Creak to become one of the ultimate (and most comfortable) class V adventures in the country.

Experience a North West River Expeditions (NWRE) whitewater vacation on this pristine wilderness river. We begin at the end of the Salmon River Road (Corn Creek Campground) and proceed directly into the 80.9-mile long "River of No Return" Wilderness. In order to traverse the canyon, one must either float all the way through to the road's end at the western edge of Idaho, fly out from secluded airstrips, or jet boat back up to corn creek. Whitewater rafting the wilderness on the Main Salmon River is a great adventure through one of our nation's last "truly wild" wilderness areas. A controlled season is managed on this river to preserve this beautiful wilderness experience. We already have the permits for your rafting vacation - and are ready to go! During the Forest Service controlled season, we are restricted to these launch dates:
