The approach is a long one, but very rewarding as one becomes transfixed by the solitude of the forest filled with wildlife and natural beauty. The climbing route involves glaciated slopes and then a short rock scramble to the top, a hard-earned summit deep in the backcountry.

The tour begins with a sightseeing stop along the Elwha River with a short walk to Madison Falls. Lake Crescent is the centerpiece of the itinerary with a 2-3 mile guided hike to Marymere Falls and surrounding trails immersed in old-growth forests. The afternoon wraps up with a scenic drive on the backroads around Lake Crescent to reach Tongue Point and amazing coastal viewpoints of the Strait of Juan De Fuca from Salt Creek County Park.

During this photography workshop, we may visit the Hoh Rain Forest and its Hall of Mosses as well as the forests found in the Quinault region of the park. We will also photograph the rugged coastline and its awe-inspiring sea stacks which can be found at First, Second, and Third Beaches. Other coastal locations include Ruby and Rialto beaches. Around Lake Crescent, we will explore the inner forested areas in search of cascades and waterfalls. This photography workshop will take advantage of the best the northwest has to offer on Washington's Olympic Peninsula.
