Ascending from camp across the Coleman and Roosevelt Glaciers we reach the toe of the North Ridge and climb moderate to steep snow on our way to the upper headwall. Here we climb several ice pitches. After this more steep snow ascends towards the summit plateau.

The Skagit River is designated the nation's largest National Wild and Scenic River system. An important nesting habitat for the nations biggest population of wintering bald eagles, the river also plays host to a wide variety of wildlife: Bear, Mountain Lion, songbirds, at least 25 different types of mammals, as well as all five types of salmon. Located along the Cascade Scenic Loop Highway, the Skagit flows west toward the Puget sound. The raft-able section of the river is largely Class I-II with a very swift Class III section known as the S-Bends rapids which has attracted whitewater boaters for decades. Children must weigh a minimum 50lbs (22kgs) to join.

Heli-Assisted Touring is a cost-effective alternative to heli skiing, and an unrivaled backcountry experience. There's no approach - just a quick flight from Mazama puts you straight into the alpine. The day begins with a high landing and an awesome run. We link up subsequent runs with peaceful skin tracks and the occasional bootpack. Alpine bowls, trees, glaciers, chutes, glades...these mountains have it all. At the bottom of our last run of the day we meet the helicopter, and minutes later are back at the heli barn.

Their jagged ridges and rocky summits are surrounded by snowfields and glaciers, which will put all of your previous mountaineering skills to the test. On this trip we will attempt the Easton Glacier route on Mt. Baker. This is a classic route, which involves steep snow up to 40 degrees and glacier travel.

Outfitting and guiding in the Stehekin Valley since 1947; the Courtney family specializes in High Country Adventure. The options are plentiful and bound to entice even the most timid adventurer to come play in our mountains. Stehekin Outfitters offers many possibilities to explore the Pacific Northwest. Hikers can enjoy “Hike and Like it” trips where we’ll provide the camp and meals plus our horses will carry your duffel bag with personal belongings in it allowing you the freedom to carry just a day pack. These trips allow hikers to relax on the trail and enjoy the scenery with the majority of the day to get from camp to camp. In the evening, relax around the fire and let our cook fill you up with heart meals cooked over a wood stove. Staying closer to home, our horses can take you on a half day ride to an alpine lake or join us on the all day ride with lunch to Bridge Creek. Both rides follow a mountainboots trail winding through the forest and out onto vistas for scenic views of the majestic peaks.
