This float includes 27 miles of river, including the "Day Stretch" of the Salmon River, at the end of which we find our campsite: a beautiful island in the middle of the river. Since the river doubles in size at the confluence of the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, this day brings bigger rapids and better fishing. I love that We can access Yellowstone in the winter! We will start the winter tour at your hotel or specified pick up location bright and early. We will enter the park through Gardiner, Mt ( north entrance) and head down the only road open toward Cooke City. Traveling through Tower Junction we will enter the Lamar Valley. This place is magical and so full of wildlife. Often we will see huge herds of bison and elk. Fox, coyotes and occasionally wolves. Cameras and spotting scopes are a must. We may even have time for a soak at Chico hot Springs on the way home!
