Only 3% of the Redwoods that originally blanketed the Pacific Coast still stand. Come walk through time in beautiful Redwood National Park where many of the few remaining old growth coastal redwoods are still preserved from being cut down and turned into decks and picnic tables. You will walk through groves of leviathan trees that are centuries or even millennia old and can grow more than 350' tall. Our trip will begin in Redwood National Park and morphs into various hikes within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park and new for 2024, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. You will almost certainly see herds of regal Roosevelt Elk, catch glimpses of whales from scenic outlooks high above the Pacific, maybe view a black bear or perhaps a sea otter or even the rare and endangered marbled murrelet. If you've never been to the Pacific Coast or seen a Redwood Tree, this is the trip for you.

The Yosemite Falls/Snow Creek Loop offers you the opportunity to experience all these wonders while avoiding the most popular and most crowded places in the park. You will hike up and out of Yosemite Valley, past the incredible 2400-foot Yosemite Falls, to the rim of the valley where you will bask in the glorious views and spend your first night. Then enjoy two days traveling through the high country towards North Dome, offering views of Half Dome and the Yosemite Valley, then to Indian Rock and Snow Creek before heading back down to the valley floor along the Snow Creek Trail. Enjoy the impressive views of Tenaya Canyon, Clouds Rest and Mt. Watkins as you make the steep descent, arriving back in the Valley in time for lunch. Whew! A strenuous but fantastic adventure!

This six-day segment of the John Muir Trail takes us through some of the most beautiful portions of the JMT. This hike has a little of everything, a wide river valley, a high pass crossing, great views, stunningly beautiful lakes, and jagged peaks. This trip can be made in either direction but we like to start from Mammoth Lakes, enabling you to spend the night before the trip in Mammoth and gain some acclimatization to the elevation. We hope to get to camp in the early afternoon each day, to allow time to sit by a lake in the sun and read a book, go fishing or take an afternoon hike without the overnight pack.

If Yosemite Valley is for tourists, Tehipite Valley is for true adventurers. Immerse yourself in a valley of mythical proportions on a 5-night, 6-day backpacking trek that will take you into the most majestic, powerful and remote valley in the Sierra. You've heard of Half Dome? Discover Tehipite Dome, the largest dome in the Sierra, with a sheer 3,500"² rise from the valley floor, and venture onto its ledges. Enjoy a layover day camped along the wildly exuberant Middle Fork of the Kings River with time to explore cascading waterfalls, swimming holes and native petroglyphs in the serene wonder of a valley filled with solitude. This 45-mile Y-shaped trek includes two base camps, roughly 4 miles of off-trail trekking, and a 3,500"² descent in just over 2 miles. Reaching Tehipite is not for the undetermined! Our route is rugged, overgrown, full of down trees and at times barely discernable. Yet all who have ventured into the Tehipite Valley would agree that the view from it's rim and sense of wonder from it's floor are worth every step.
