Then test your endurance as you cross the river and trek up Bright Angel Trail to the South Rim. It will almost seem impossible when you look back across the canyon after hiking 25.5 miles in 10-15 hours.

We will visit interesting historical sites, study unique geological features, and marvel at the ever-changing vistas and panoramas that are revealed at each twist and turn of the river. In addition to the amazing scenery and educational aspects of the trip, there is plenty of whitewater excitement! We'll run more than 200 rapids during the course of the expedition, including some of the most famous "drops and falls" in the world, like Horn Creek, Hermit, Crystal and Lava Falls. 2 Person day hike. The South Kaibab Trail is a ridge trail that offers you those giant Grand Canyon 360 degree views you are expecting and dreaming of. With ooh-ah point being our first stop, you will stand at the edge of a huge drop off and overlook Cremation Canyon. We will then head on down to Cedar Ridge for a hearty snack. This is 1.5 miles from the trail-head and offers time to explore and get some great pictures of the wide-open canyon. We will continue hiking along the ridges to our next destination. Giant overlooks of the Tonto Platform and the canyons ability to make you feel like an ant, will be on this next section. Our next stop is Skeleton Point where we get our first view of the powerful Colorado River. You are able to get away from the trail here and enjoy lunch overlooking the Colorado River. This will be our turn around point unless you want to go further. Of course your guide will make the decision as we want you to have the most exciting day possible and remain safe.

The Grand Canyon includes numerous side canyons created by erosion. It is through only one of these canyons we are able to journey to the bottom. Because many layers of rock were exposed during this process, the walls of the canyon consist of countless shades of brown, yellow, red and gray. As the sun moves across the sky the light changes making the vista transform dramatically over the course of the day. The rock levels represent a cross-section of the geological history of the earth with the stone at the Inner Gorge of the river being some of the oldest on the planet with an age of nearly two billion years. Grand Canyon hosts 6 of the 7 climatic zones with only Tropical missing. Departing from Williams we will travel through 5 levels arriving at the base of the Inner Gorge, the Colorado River, and to what appears to be another world. Some of the plants of the Lower Sonoran Life Zone can only be found at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
