Snook are predatory fish that lurk around mangrove shorelines, oyster bars, grass flats, and are often caught laid upon a muddy bay bottom or cruising the beaches. The summer months offer great opportunities to fly fish for snook while they cruise the shorelines and sandbars. Snook range from about 14 to 50 inches in length and can grow to be over 30 pounds in weight. These fish fight hard!

The fishing can take place in the crystal clear waters for Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit or in the Everglades National Park for Red Fish, Snook, Trout, etc depending on the angler’s preference or experience. Captain Steve is fully equipped with fly and spinning gear. Trips can be geared toward family oriented rod bending action or the experienced fly fisherman. Steve is patient with children as he has two young ones of his own. Steve fishes out of a Maverick Mirage HPX that has a wonderful ride and can go very shallow for skinny water sight fishing.

Whether you prefer fly fishing or gear fishing, or a combination of both I am able to cater to your needs. The areas fished are the oceanside and back country flats of Islamorada, Key Largo, and the Everglades National Park. The Florida Keys are famous for world class fishing, and the number of different angling opportunities presented to sportsmen. Whether fishing for snappers in the mangroves or poling the edge of a flat looking for tarpon, or in the shallow water hunting bonefish and redfish, I will do my best to provide you with a positive angling experience. Days will be set up to provide anglers with the best opportunity, taking into consideration the current conditions, the anglers desire, and their skill level.
