Floating this pristine glacial-fed river offers many beautiful wilderness scenes. Imagine quietly floating, so quiet that you can hear the suspended silt as it brushes against the raft's floor, going with the river's flow, seeing ferns that drape the river's edge so large that they topple over due to their height and weight; some measuring well over 8 feet tall. Eagles flying by, salmon jumping in the river, moose crossing the side creeks, an occasional bear stalking fish along the river banks; all of these things are possible to see in the wilderness of Alaska. We certainly don't promise to see them on this tour, but it is possible.

EarthSong Lodge offers a variety of summer and winter adventures, ranging from lodge-based accommodations to overnight camping trips. In the summer, guests stay in their own single story honey-colored log cabin, complete with private baths, full and queen size beds, and hand-crafted furnishings. An evening slide show program by our staff Naturalist is also provided. One of the highlights of EarthSong Lodge is a visit to the sled dog kennels, home to the friendliest working huskies in Alaska. In the past we have had our dogs on site for guests to visit. While we are still offering guided tours through Denali Park in the winter, we do not have any sled dogs on the property after the 2023 season. The kennel will be open for guests to see displays and equipment used by our teams for both guiding and extended arctic expeditions. Dog sledding has been at the heart of EarthSong since opening in 1997, and the kennel will continue to reflect our ties with the mushing world. Hours for kennel walk-through are TBA. We also offer winter dog sled tours!

That’s one of the many questions we answer on the Naturalist Walking Tour. “But helpful stranger,” I can hear you saying. “I’m not a hiker! Do you like jaw-dropping views? A good workout? Learning about Denali? If you answered “no” to any of those questions, stop reading now. This tour isn’t for you. If you’re still reading, then this might be exactly what you’re looking for. This is the tour that one satisfied customer (Alicia G.) said was “the best guided tour I have ever had.” Are you ready? Leave the buses and boardwalks behind. Hike high into the Alaska Range. Feel the wind in your hair and the rocks beneath your feet. As the views begin to unfold, you won’t be able to peel your eyes away. The rugged mountains rise around you like monolithic castles. The wide valleys stretch into the distance. The greens, reds, and blues of the tundra create a patchwork quilt unlike any other. Now pick your jaw back up! There’s more to see, and higher to go! Toil further up the steep ridge. Scramble over jagged rocks. Stroll along saddles filled with beautiful alpine wildflowers. Later in the season, enjoy the bounty of wild blueberries, lingonberries, currants, and more. Keep an eye out for the elusive Dall sheep. You’re in their domain now! Your guide will point out signs of them everywhere. Maybe they’ll even lead you along a sheep trail for a time.
