Established in 1983, Dragonfly Anglers has been guiding fly fishermen throughout the Gunnison/Crested Butte area before fly fishing was the thing to do. 2022 will be our 40th season guiding and every year the fishing gets better and better. What’s the secret to our 40 years of success? The first and most important piece of this long lasting puzzle is the unending resource and the protection of that resource. The variety of water that we have in this valley is beyond belief. After 30 years of guiding myself, I still find water I have not fished. Another factor is choosing the right people to represent your business. The Guides here are year-round residents and are committed to achieving satisfaction by seeing the people they guide be successful. They are able to combine all factors on any particular day on the water to give you the best chance for success.

WHAT IS “THE NEXT EDDY”? An eddy is a feature in the river (No, Eddy doesn’t work here!). It is the current of water on the side of the river that is moving in the opposite direction of the main current. It is the calm spot on the side: the pocket, the pullover and wait for your friends spot, the grab another beer and have some lunch spot, the there’s got to be a fish in there spot. We are always moving towards that next eddy, in life and on the river. The Next Eddy is the destination. We are a full service fly shop and guide operation in downtown Salida, Colorado. What does full service shop mean? We can help you out in any aspect of fly fishing. We sell and rent the gear you need for a day on the river and we help you out with the gear you already have. We pride ourselves in having the friendliest guides and staff. There is a lot to learn when you are beginning to fly fish, and let’s be honest, throughout a lifetime of fly fishing! We want to help create a community of anglers. We don’t want anyone to feel intimidated for asking what we all had to learn at some point, so come in and ask! Meet our staff and our guides, you’ll most likely recognize them the next time you’re out on the river. We offer guided trips for all levels of experience, from beginners to seasoned anglers.
