Out of the hundreds of canyons within canyons that make up the greater Glen Canyon area, Coyote Gulch is the crown jewel. Catherdral amphitheaters, massive sandstone walls and iconic arches frame an intimate, lush riparian walkway decorated with waterfalls, springs and pools. This adventure shows off the wide variety of incredible terrain of this remote and rugged landscape, with a mix of exciting scrambles over cross-country slickrock, and barefoot hiking through shallow creeks.

In the remote Utah backcountry, lies a magical world of naturally formed sandstone arches, canyons, mesas, and buttes called Arches National Park We will be day-hiking almost every established trail in this popular and colorful park. Colossal sandstone arches, monolithic rock faces, spires, windows, natural bridges, canyons and various other rock formations dot the landscape. While you may have to scramble over the rock terrain at times, mileages are low and rewards are often easy to come by. Everyone should see Arches once, even if they've never heard of Edward Abbey.

Paria Canyon and Buckskin Gulch present a unique backpacking experience in a remote and iconic landscape. Only 20 overnight hikers are allowed to enter the canyon per day. Buckskin Gulch is the longest slot canyon in the world that offers a nearly subterranean hike through a deep slice in the Navajo sandstone. Paria (rhymes with Korea) Canyon is a little wider, but with massive sheer walls showing off stunning views at every turn. Native Americans left their mark on this canyon, and we'll see lots of petroglyphs. Wrather Arch is one of the largest natural arches in the US, but probably the most inaccessible and least visited. Much of the trip requires walking directly in the Paria River, and the condition of the river bottom is changing constantly by flash floods. Mud and quicksand make hiking more difficult for several days after a flood. April, May and June are the months with the lowest chance of flooding. Still, flash floods can happen any time of year, and we will only enter the canyon if it’s safe. This is a very strenuous trip and requires a Class 3 scramble out of Buckskin Gulch on the last day. This is not for anyone with a strong fear of heights.
