Located 20 miles north of Helena, we are one of Montana’s not to miss destinations. When planning your Montana vacation of a lifetime do not miss the Gates of the Mountains. For over 125 years guests have been following in the path of Lewis and Clark exploring the “Gates of the Mountains”. Today the marina and boat tour is operated by the Gates of the Mountains Inc, whose goal is to protect, educate, and allow visitors to explore one of the last best places. Today the operation includes a Marina with 150 private docks, a public boat ramp, and tour boats that allow around 30,000 visitors a year to explore what Meriwether Lewis saw over 200 years before. We encourage you to come out and see the “Heart” of Montana. The river is surrounded by over 28,000 acres of roadless undeveloped wilderness filled with flora and fauna. Please enjoy your time on our site and we hope to see you soon. If you have any questions or want to learn more about the Gates, please call (406) 458-5241 and we will be happy to answer them.

We provide our passengers with safe, reliable, clean air-service from a professional and courteous staff. We also run freight routes year-round out of SLC and Boise, and a small, year-round service between Salmon and Boise. Our front country charter flights operate frequently into and out of Jackson Hole, Sun Valley, Bozeman, Glacier Park, West Yellowstone, and more. We can connect you to Salt Lake City, Boise, Seattle, or Portland. We’d love to help you with your next flight. In the summer, we fly daily routes between Stanley, McCall, Salmon, and Boise. These flights largely serve to connect guests to their river trips in Idaho. LODGING IN YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK Yellowstone National Park was established as the world’s first national park on March 1, 1872 and encompasses 2.2 million acres. Just as the landscape and wildlife are part of the heritage of Yellowstone National Park, so are the lodges, campgrounds, tours, and services operated by Yellowstone National Park Lodges. In the summer, Yellowstone National Park Lodges operates 9 lodges, 4 campgrounds, and 1 RV park. We also offer summer packages and guided land, water, and horseback tours. I love that We can access Yellowstone in the winter! We will start the winter tour at your hotel or specified pick up location bright and early. We will enter the park through Gardiner, Mt ( north entrance) and head down the only road open toward Cooke City. Traveling through Tower Junction we will enter the Lamar Valley. This place is magical and so full of wildlife. Often we will see huge herds of bison and elk. Fox, coyotes and occasionally wolves. Cameras and spotting scopes are a must. We may even have time for a soak at Chico hot Springs on the way home!

On our Yellowstone Winter Tour g""eyser basins and snow-covered landscapes await in the winter wonderland. Winter is a fantastic time for wildlife watching and your guide will take you to the best spots to see bison, elk, bighorn sheep, and possibly even one of the resident wolf packs. We will board special snow coaches that will transport us over the closed roads of Yellowstone to Old Faithful. Once there try out a pair of snowshoes, put on some cross-country skis, or simply walk the boardwalks right from the lodge. Capping off the week is a dip in a hot spring steps away from your cozy room.
