The Beartooth mountains are wild and remote. Therefore, they offer some of the best terrain in the region for backcountry skiing, ice & rock climbing, mountaineering, and backpacking. The Beartooth plateau is just outside of Yellowstone and creates a dramatic change in landscape. Red Lodge and Cooke City are gateways for Yellowstone National Park and the Beartooth Mountains. Our office is just one hour South of Billings, one hour North of Cody, and 2.5 hours East of Bozeman.

We also offer drop trips into the base of Gannet Peak. Check with us to see which lakes and destinations we can accommodate. These trips are for groups of hikers who may want their gear dropped off and packed back out. We take your gear in on horseback to the campsite of your choosing and you can hike in and out and not have the hassle of carrying your gear. Others prefer to be met on certain dates and have themselves along with their gear carried in and out, which we can accommodate as well. It is a 25 mile hike to the base of Gannett peak where we drop your gear for you!

After taking a shuttle across the main body of the lake, we'll paddle 2 - 10 miles each day, depending on the groups' desires, tent camp under the stars on sandy beaches, and dine on gourmet meals cooked over the campfire. Native cutthroat trout thrive in the 400+ foot deep Yellowstone Lake, which makes for excellent fishing. Fish right from your kayak or choose one of the feeder creeks including the headwaters of the Yellowstone River. Each day we'll go hiking in fields of wildflowers or up nearby peaks. We'll do lots of exploring and wildlife watching, or just relaxing on the lake's shores. Yellowstone Lake has an ecosystem all its own and sea kayaking along its shoreline is the best way to experience it!
