Welcome to 3R Ranch Outfitters 3R Ranch is an 11,000 acre property with private ownership located 43 miles southwest of Pueblo, Colorado in the Wet Mountains (Trophy Unit 84). The ranch is primarily a cow/calf cattle operation. Each spring we calve approximately 450 black Angus beef calves and produce 750 acres of irrigated hay. The 3R Lodge – nestled in the foothills of the Wet Mountains – is surrounded with the view of Greenhorn to the south and open vistas to the east. With an elevation of 7,400 feet our temperatures are bit cooler spring through autumn and a bit warmer in the winter. Because this is private property you don’t have to share the ranch with other hunters! Your adventure awaits. 3R Ranch & Lodge offers a very diverse landscape of mountains, canyons, prairies and year-round streams that provide irrigation for our lush hay meadows. We share this terrain with a variety of wildlife, including mule deer, mountain lion, turkey, bear and elk in abundant numbers. Cow calf and Greehnorn We strive to be good stewards of the land, and to maintain a healthy ecosystem. Our goal is to improve the quality of wildlife and land to ensure that we always have abundant, healthy animal herds. We want to maintain this land and cattle operation – that we love so much – and ensure that future generations appreciate and enjoy it as ranchers, hunters and conservationists. I have had the privilege of learning and growing as a guide and now outfitter under one of the best teachers around. I’ve been fortunate to have started my guiding career when Trophy Hunting Adventures was established. What makes Trophy Hunting Adventures the right choice for your investment is our approach to outfitting. Our approach begins with our values and ends with our hunting philosophy. We conduct business with honesty and integrity while being safety and service focused. Our hunting philosophy is that filling hunting slots isn’t as important as our client’s hunting experience. We can provide a high quality hunting experience therefore the slots will get filled. Game management is key in executing our hunting philosophy. Our recipe for success starts with quality private land. We procure private land owner tags with no draw application needed in high density areas that have good foliage and quality genes. Our ranches must practice predator control and show a willingness to manage and improve game foliage. The second ingredient is managing harvests. We work with New Mexico Game and Fish on animal counts and tag allocation. We encourage our hunters to harvest only mature animals, we manage a strict hunter to harvest ratio to ensure low hunting pressure and we rotate ranches based on our previous year harvest. We actively work to increase our herd and flock counts to ensure high density. The last, and most important ingredient, is service. Our clients are first and foremost and having great hunting areas doesn't mean anything if you don’t have great guides and the right service attitude. We strive for repeat customers and making sure our clients are safe and have an opportunity for a trophy of a lifetime is job 1! All the conveniences of home in a wilderness setting. Most Guided hunts will be on horseback. 7 day packages include arrival and departure days and 5 full days of hunting. These packages include Lodging which is a comfortable wall tent camp. Meals are served homestyle with hearty helpings of good energy for the days hunt. Your guide will then take you into the field and take care of packing your game to the main camp where we can take it to the processor or taxidermist if you choose. These hunts are conducted on my stunning San Juan National Forest Service permit area. This area holds a good population of resident elk. We hunt in a manner that they stay in the area and are not blown out. If you are able to draw a deer tag you should consider concentrating on hunting the Large Bucks that are common in our area. A combination hunt is available if you would like to hunt Elk and Mule Deer.
