Everyone is excited to pull a few lobster traps. We will haul, bait, and explain how the traps work, and discuss the biology of lobsters. Learn how lobstermen are protecting this thriving industry while harvesting 120 million pounds of lobster annually. At $4 per pound that is nearly half a billion dollars fueling the coastal Maine communities. Most lobsters migrate closer or further from shore depending on the seasons. They may move up to 5 or 6 miles in a year, going closer to shore in warm weather, and offshore for stable, deeper water in late fall. In May the abundance of Lobsters close to shore is still low. Heading east we will look for a breeding pair of bald eagles. East Bunker Ledge is a favorite spot for watching seals as they swim, fish and sunbathe on the rocks. We'll cruise home past the Cranberry Islands, where a 200-year old fishing village continues to thrive by the ways of the sea.

Each level consists of a series of courses, one building upon the other, aimed at helping a client achieve that particular level of competency. This inclusive curriculum design allows a client to jump into the continuum at any given point, assuming they make a candid assessment of their existing knowledge and skill level. Each level also includes a practice component that requires a significant commitment on the part of the client to repeatedly practice and ultimately master the skills and techniques outlined in a particular competency level.

We are the new concessioner for the 2024 season. We will be open from Saturday May 25th through Wednesday October 16th, 2024 providing carriage tours, stall rentals and equestrian camping. All of our carriage tours depart from Wildwood Stables, just off the Park Loop Road. The Island Explorer Bus (4 Loop Road) stops at Wildwood. While we don’t offer horseback riding, we would be more than happy to get you and your family on a carriage tour.

This workshop starts at twilight, learning techniques of low-light photography. We will cover camera settings and the pros and cons of long exposure.
