Wild Fox Cabins & Campground is your passport to the rugged, unspoiled Maine wilderness. It’s a vacation experience you will never forget. We are located on 155 secluded acres along 3,600 feet of shoreline on Junior Lake in Penobscot County just 80 miles Northeast of Bangor Airport. Access by car via I-95 to ME-6. Access by boat from West Grand Lake (below), Bottle Lake, or Duck Lake (above), or by floatplane from Bangor Airport. We have the only boat ramp on Junior Lake. We boast some of the best fishing in the United States with over a dozen species available including Landlocked Salmon and two varieties of Trout. The lake has a maximum depth of 70 feet and 3,866 acres of pure, clean spring-fed water-rated at above-average quality by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Game. Our property is surrounded by 300,000 acres of picturesque conservation land that can be hunted for a variety of game. There are other activities for every age, ability, and interest. We are a pet-friendly establishment. We will be happy to assist you with packing lists and answer all of your questions either by email or telephone.

We offer drift boat trips on the Magalloway and Kennebec rivers. These trips focus on trout during the spring and fall and Smallmouth Bass when the water temps warm up during the summer months. The Kennebec is a big rivers that offer the opportunity to see lots of water in the course of the day. The diversity of waters and landscape on these large rivers create a memorable Maine experience. The Magalloway is a smaller river that offers a more intimate, close to the water experience. The Magalloway can be floated with a smaller raft that is often pulled up on a sandbar to spend more time at a particular cut bank. The Kennebec river is good for trout through the third week of June depending on the water temps while the Magalloway will hold Brook Trout and Salmon all the summer. Our guides have lots of experience in their boats and on these rivers. Their boats will take 1 or 2 fisherman and are roomy and comfortable for a full day on the river.

Our home base is in Maine's Wildlife Management District (WMD) 17 which offers some of the best deer habitat. This area of the state is a mix of farmland and large tracts of forestland that offer some of the highest deer concentrations in Maine. If you are interested in an "any deer" permit, which allows you to shoot an antlerless deer, this is the zone you must apply for. Check the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for seasons, license fees any-deer permits and management districts. Deer hunters are required to purchase a Maine Big Game License in advance from Maine's Dept. of IF&W.

Each year approximately many lucky applicants receive a permit to hunt one of North America's largest game animals, the majestic Moose. Applicants can apply online until mid-May and permits are drawn each year in June. Those drawn are assigned a WMD, season and a bull or cow tag. We guide for moose primarily in northern Maine where there are three seasons, late September, mid-October and early November. Each season is 6 days in duration, Monday through Saturday.
