We will also take advantage of the dark night skies as the milky way rises over Mount Rainier. Sam Hennessey has been a professional mountain guide for the last 11 years, and is an internationally certified IFMGA guide. His experience includes over twenty expeditions to the Alaska Range, six seasons in Antarctica, and numerous trips to the Himalaya. Closer to home, he works as an ice climbing guide in Hyalite Canyon and the South Fork of the Shoshone, as well as climbing and skiing in the Tetons and Beartooths. He is passionate about exploring the frozen waterfalls of the area, and has climbed hundreds of routes throughout the region, including dozens of first ascents throughout the region. Seth has been a professional mountain guide for the past 17 years and has led over 45 international expeditions around the world including 11 trips to Antarctica, 23 trips to the Alaska Range, and high altitude mountaineering trips to the Andes and Himalaya including two successful summits of Mount Everest. Seth guides classic mountaineering routes, technical alpine climbs and challenging ice and mixed routes throughout the Western United States in addition to climbing and guiding ice extensively throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Rainier gives you a full on mountaineering experience. Our program is five days. We start at Paradise Visitor Center and ascend via Disappointment Cleaver - with two days of mountaineering skills built in. This allows beginners to gain confidence and seasoned climbers a chance to refresh all while acclimatizing to the altitude. Most importantly, it allows time to truly appreciate and enjoy the experience. If you are looking to test your strength and have a big mountain experience, we encourage you to join us on our climb to the roof of the Northwest.

As we hike through the Sunrise region of Mount Rainier National Park, we will witness the awesome powers of water, glaciers, volcanoes, and nature. This trip has it all: rivers, glaciers, meadows, wildlife and breathtaking views of Mount Rainier, and an amazing opportunity to learn and practice the do's and don'ts of backpacking. The scenery is so stunning you will probably start planning your next trip before you leave the park! /p> The hiking trail itself is of moderate difficulty overall with challenging uphill sections and some easier stretches that will allow you to keep your eyes fixed on the vistas, glaciers, and Mount Rainier. We plan to enjoy our time in the park at a comfortable pace, since half the fun of being outdoors is escaping our busy lives! There are some tough sections, however, so be prepared for a few challenges and many breath-taking rewards!
