Saddle up for a unique experience Bitter Creek Outfitters is a family-operated business providing scenic trail-riding excursions on a working cattle ranch just minutes outside of Billings, Montana. We are located within 10 minutes of downtown Billings, Montana--just 8 miles from the airport, 6 miles from downtown, and 4 miles off I-90. We offer you a unique opportunity to experience the Yellowstone Valley's natural beauty in a most natural way — on horseback! Trail riding is a great way to spend a few hours with your family or friends, get out of town and get close to nature, ask questions about the local flora and fauna, and learn about our local history. On our guided tours, we'll treat you to a leisurely trek through the Montana countryside — atop the area's distinctive rimrocks, through ponderosa pines and fields of wildflowers. Enjoy a fun, friendly environment and give yourself and your family a day to remember. This is not a large commercial operation, you'll enjoy small groups and individual attention. We can accommodate special requests like picnics, birthdays & anniversaries and we've even helped with a few marriage proposals! Please visit our photo gallery to see a glimpse of our ranch and the natural splendor that has impressed generations of family and friends.

The Bighorn River is a waterfowler's paradise. With the consistent water temps from Yellowtail Dam, the river stays ice free the entire Winter. It is the largest body of open water within well over a 100 mile radius even during the coldest months of the year. Because of this, thousands of waterfowl are patterned to stop on their way South during their migration. Afterbay reservoir is closed to hunting and acts as a 2-mile-long refuge that hosts unreal amounts of waterfowl. Coupled with and expanse of agricultural land with endless feed such as corn and wheat and helps keep the birds in the Bighorn valley well after the season is closed. Our guides specialize in targeting Ducks (Mallards, Widgeon, Gadwall, Teal and Pintail) throughout the mainstem of the Bighorn River as well as the many side channels and sloughs. Large populations of Canadian Geese are prevalent as well, for another fun option.

7-V Ranch Outfitting guides employ spot-and-stalk tactics for the majority of archery deer hunts. Hunters can also be set up on field edges and game trails to wait for the big buck to wander into range. Rolling hills, coulees and pine groves lend themselves to our high success rate for archery hunts.
