These workshops take place in some of the most beautiful places in America. They are geared to help you master the technical aspects of your camera and to help you apply that knowledge to real life situations on your own beyond the workshop. My goal is share my knowledge Many of the Night Sky Workshop will have both morning shoot times and evening shoot times. A sleep break is built in between evening and morning shoots. During the day, you will edit down your images to your top 5 from each shoot, do your own exploring, charge your batteries and relax before out next night shoot. Do you need prior experience in night photography to join one of these workshops? The answer is, NO. However, you should have a pretty good idea how the camera operates. What does that means? It means, you should have an simple understanding of how your shutter speed, aperture and ISO work together to form your "exposure". There will not be any "auto or program" modes used for this night photography workshop. Priority modes are fine for shooting during the daylight hours, but not at night.

Its salt pans, sand dunes, and cracked earth textures are a feast for the eyes and the camera. Join this multi-day workshop to explore, shoot, and enjoy this fascinating and beautiful desert landscape. This multi-day Death Valley photography workshop will help photographers create memorable photos of the fascinating and beautiful features of Death Valley National Park. For beginners, this workshop focuses on understanding your camera's settings in order to expand your knowledge and break into more creative realms. For those more comfortable with their gear, we will place a strong emphasis on producing striking and powerful compositions, as well as telling a story with your photos. Depending on conditions, the workshop will introduce participants to aspects of night photography and light-painting.

In this workshop we'll get up-close and personal with waterfalls (bring your rain gear), find rainbows galore, and photograph the poppies and redbud blooming in the Merced River Canyon. A priority in this workshop is the Yosemite Falls moonbow (lunar rainbow) only possible during spring full moons. I've been visiting Yosemite my entire life, and leading photo workshops here for nearly 20 years, so I know places in Yosemite Valley that are both beautiful and far (-ish) from the crowds. And of course we'll have plenty of time to photograph all of Yosemite's "classic" views of El Capitan, Half Dome, and waterfalls. And as a bonus, we'll photograph a full moon rising above Yosemite Valley.
