Between the information you provide on our Intake Form, first impressions of the group upon meeting, the weather condtions of the day, and what's in season (plants and wildlife), we construct a customized experience in real time. Every group is different, so every hike should be as well. The Standard comes in two versions. Half-Days are up to to 5 hrs, while Full-Days are up to 9hrs.

Climber to guide max ratio is 4 to 1. Our ½ day is perfect for the 1st time climber, families with young children, the transitioning climber from the gym to outdoor rock climbing, those that want more than one adventure in the park in a day, the commitment-averse, or those on a tight time schedule. Expect to climb 3 to 7 routes depending on route difficulty, length, personal motivation, etc.

Cliffhanger Guides is a culmination of the work and life experiences of Seth Zaharias, Sabra Purdy, and our amazing staff. We are the only rock climbing guide service in Joshua Tree to have a brick and mortar presence located in the heart of the community on Park blvd directly across the street from the JTNP visitor center. We have built a upcycled Conex shipping container building that is 70% recycled materials, solar powered, all art project on the outside and all business on the inside. Please see the above image. At Cliffhanger Guides we believe that anybody can rock climb. We play with kids age 3-103, all shapes, sizes, and ability levels. We are dedicated to expanding people’s horizons and giving them a chance to connect with the natural world and all that it has to offer. Rock climbing is a great medium for discovering the outdoors, building strength and flexibility, and cultivating life-long friendships. Enjoy an educational shuttle around the park with plenty of amazing photo opportunities. Your shuttle driver and guide will take you around the park ensuring you don't miss some of the best and most picturesque spots. The sightseeing tour visits Joshua Tree Classic's including: Cholla Cactus Garden, Skull Rock, Arch Rock, Ohlsen Ranch (or Cap Rock Nature Trail), and Key's View. Tours depart at 8am from our office in Joshua Tree. You can expect to be back around 12:30pm. Your ticket includes the park entrance fee. Advance reservations recommended
