Great efforts are put into all aspects of our moose hunts from gear and equipment to planning and scouting. We go through a detailed gear list and general hunt information with each hunter to ensure they are fully prepared and ready for their hunt. Our average trophy moose taken are between 55 and 70 inches, with our past hunting seasons harvesting up to 77 inch moose and the current #4 Boone and Crockett Alaska moose. We focus on harvesting older mature bulls and a moose hunt also provides a great opportunity to hunt Grizzly as well in areas where the seasons coincide.

We have a nice variety of color phases in Grizzlies from blond highlights with dark legs to chocolate browns to silver tips. The Arctic Grizzly is also considered to be a Barren Ground Grizzly. These hunts are great to combine with Caribou and Dall sheep hunts at packaged prices. We are committed to providing our hunters with not only success but an organized and enjoyable experience. At Cavner & Julian, we use the most up to date and proven equipment, gear, and supplies and provide our hunters with detailed information and gear list in the months prior to their hunt. Every detail matters to us and we take extra care to provide an incredible and memorable hunt. We look forward to our future seasons at bear camp and spending time grilling and talking around the fire!

Alaska wolves can be very impressive in size and easily weigh from 100-150 pounds on average. Our Alaska Peninsula hunting locations contain expansive vistas and ridges, perfect for spotting the wolf traversing the coastal areas for various small game and bear carcasses. We have also had good response to using calls and watching from vantage points that overlook valleys the wolves travel through.

We have enjoyed some great sheep hunting and even more so, helping to fulfill the dreams of our hunters who desire the experience of hunting Dall Rams. No matter the age or ability of the hunter, we will work together to provide a hunt that is tailored to each hunters capability and can provide extra means of help if needed. We do not require our hunters to carry a heavy backpack- most of our past hunters have used a small backpack or hip pack. We want everyone that dreams of hunting Dall sheep to have the opportunity to experience this hunt, it is one that will be remembered for a lifetime!

Caribou are also great to hunt in combination with Dall Sheep and Grizzly Bear and you do not need to put in for any draws in the areas we hunt. We have smooth logistics for our hunters-getting you into base camp quickly and efficiently. At some locations depending on the camp departure point, we provide a staff member to meet you at the airport and get you transitioned through heading to base camp. Our staff provides detailed gear lists and spends extra time going over each item that will help to ensure your success. We use proven equipment that is designed and based on mountaineering use and is often very light weight, high tech, and efficient. Our food menu consists of a wide variety of options- from some light weight freeze dried meals to more deluxe grilling back at base camp. We supplement with ample amounts of fruits, vegetables, and fresh meats and dairy. You can be sure that we'll also have plenty of snacks and warm drinks to keep you full in between our main meals.

Tim Nelson is a second-generation Alaskan that has lived a subsistence lifestyle for over 40 years. Hunting, fishing, and trapping have always been a part of his daily life. Growing up in a remote area and living off the land Tim learned wilderness survival and hunting skills at a very young age. Tim loves teaching these skills to others especially his two children Conner and Sylvia. He has been an Alaskan Big Game Guide since 2004 and truly enjoys sharing Alaska’s beautiful yet rugged wilderness and all of the opportunities it has to offer.

Welcome to Solo Creek Guide Services home of Alaska’s Premier Big Game Hunting with Registered Guide Thomas (Tom) Vaden. If you are looking for the Big Game hunt of a lifetime Solo Creek Guide Services is one of the best possible options you will find for fulfilling that dream in Alaska. We are located deep in the rugged Wrangell Mountains of Alaska. Our lodge sits in the Wrangell Saint Elias Preserve and abuts up to the famous Wrangell Saint Elias National Park, one of the largest parks in the world. We pride our selves on having managed the game in this area since 1960 which is when the Vaden family began guiding at this location. Over the years we have been extremely selective on the number of hunters we take (maximum of 5) and believe this is why our hunters have had tremendous success rate in the last two decades. Solo Creek Guide Services base camp is very remote being several hundred miles from major Alaskan cities. It is accessible only by Bush Plane in the summer and fall and snow machines in the winter. Our location provides excellent opportunities for bagging a trophy Moose, Grizzly Bear or Dall Sheep. Much of your hunting will be done on horse back using a spot & stalk method. Solo Creek has a tremendous variety of terrain. It has lush grass meadows, heavy timber, thick willow groves and high mountain tundra with snow covered mountains. It is a hunters paradise. We offer the experience of a life time and are here to help you fulfill your hunting dreams.

Alaska is a land of extremes, brutal to the unprepared, yet fragile if treated carelessly. We provide personal service to our guests that is second to none in a responsible, ethical manner. We cherish Alaska's fish and wildlife resources and respect others that share our passion. We will show you the "True Alaska", far off the beaten path. We pursue solitude encountered only in the deepest wilderness of Alaska. This philosophy of exploring Alaska in the most remote settings allows for wildlife behavior that is completely natural and mature game animals in their pristine native habitats. Hike hundreds of miles from the nearest road, fish without another angler in sight, and hunt where the only voice will be the whisper of your guide. We are passionate about sharing our wild places and unique inhabitants of Alaska with you. We pride ourselves on exceptional service to our guests, our community, and our natural resources.

Our hunting area is outstanding, the bulk of it located in the Nabesna area. The fall season begins in August with Dall Sheep. We offer a good mature ram with a nice full curl, or a heavy broomed ram. My guides and myself will try to get you a trophy that you can be proud of. These rams run 8-10 years old, but they did not get to be that old by being dumb, so they are difficult to hunt. A person could spend a whole season chasing a 40″ ram and never get a shot off. Although we have taken many big trophy animals, we never quite know where or when they will turn up.
